Ledger vs claim engine
Procare's agency billing is a proper ledger — it will faithfully record whatever claim your office manager computes. The catch is that your office manager is still computing it. State subsidy math is rule-bound and state-specific: in Illinois, a center at or above 70% attendance bills eligible days, not attended days, and the warrant that arrives weeks later pays several children at once. Reokin generates that claim from the attendance ledger with the rule applied, and when the warrant lands, matches it penny-exact and splits it per family. The ledger entry is the output, not the job.
Common questions
Is Reokin a Procare replacement?
For a single-site or small multi-site center, yes: attendance, ratios, billing, CCAP claims, reconciliation, staff files, and accounting are all in the core product. Procare remains a strong fit for large enterprises that want its decades-deep billing configurations and are comfortable assembling add-on modules.
What is the biggest practical difference?
Where the money math lives. Procare gives you excellent ledgers and expects your staff to run the subsidy math and bank-side reconciliation. Reokin computes the CCAP claim from attendance under the state rule, then matches the state deposit to it penny-exact when it hits your bank. The second difference is packaging: Procare sells a core plus priced add-ons; Reokin is one product.
What does Procare do better?
Maturity and breadth. Procare has served centers for over 30 years, handles very large multi-site enterprises, and its billing engine covers edge cases a young product has not met yet. It also has an established ecosystem of integrations and support resources.
What does Procare cost?
Procare advertises entry-level plans for home-based providers and quotes center pricing individually; parent-engagement and other capabilities are separate add-ons, so the real monthly figure depends on which modules you enable. Reokin is currently onboarding founding-partner centers in Illinois — contact us for cohort terms.
